Why I’m So Glad to Be Based in Austin, Texas

Austin, TX: I get envious looks every time I meet someone new and tell them I am from Austin, Texas.

I tell everyone and anyone that inquires about Austin – that they have to come down here to enjoy it first hand for at least a full weekend.

As a person that has lived in and around Austin, Texas since 1978, I am excited and blessed be able to call Austin, TX my home.

Austin, the state capital, is home to the University of Texas, my and my wife’s alma mater.

Setting up my promotional products business in Austin, Texas definitely has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.

I have worked selling promotional products since my freshman year of college (1981) – and I have never looked back.

Austin is also home to one of the most well educated workforces and was just voted one of ther cleanest cities in the country.

The more I travel, the more I have come to appreciate Austin. It is a very vibrant city – for people of all ages.

Austin is known as the Live Music Capital of the World–with tons of bars, taverns and other clubs that feature fantastic music – every night. That is to say nothing about the music festivals, including South by Southwest (SXSW), ACL Music Fest, plus Austin City Limits to name just a few.

Austin is even home to the newest Formula One racing track in the country- an event that is surely going to bring tens of thousands of international fans into our city (where hopefully they will leave after spending a great deal of money)!

As my youngest child ponders where he wants to college next year, he is torn about having to move away from this great city – as the University of Texas’ admissions policy is getting to be a bit too selective–choosing only the Top 8% of Texas high school students, regardless of the difficulty of a school’s curriculum or rank.

That being said, I imagine he will be coming back to Austin in four years– and home on as many weekends as he can.

I am thankful to all my great customers who have allowed me to continue to live and make a very nice living in the city of Austin. I have quite a few friends that would move to Austin, in a heartbeat, if they were able to make a living here.

I look forward to living in Austin for the rest of my life – and to continue to run and grow my business – Eco Marketing Solutions – from Austin as well.
